Described by Jazz Wise as ‘a brilliant improviser’, guitarist Romain Pilon has gained international recognition through his albums. He has toured as a bandleader in many countries around the world and has played and recorded with Brian Blade, Ben Wendel, Jeff Ballard, Seamus Blake, Walter Smith III, Baptiste Trotignon, Sam Yahel and Linda May Han Oh, among others.
He is back at the Sunset to present his new album and most personal project to date: ‘Open Roads’.
To this end, he has brought together exceptional musicians such as vibraphonist Alexis Valet and trumpeter Raynald Colom, alongside a resolutely modern rhythm section featuring Fred Pasqua and Gabriel Sauzay.
With poetic writing that plays with textures and moods, the quintet's music draws on multiple influences: from Led Zeppelin to Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis and Eric Satie. A wonderful evening in prospect.
‘A guitarist of marvellous originality.’ France Musique
