Xavier Belin & Baptiste Poulin

Born from the collaboration between saxophonist Baptiste Poulin and pianist Xavier Belin, "Crossing" is a French jazz duo. This ensemble draws inspiration from many legendary duos such as Lee Konitz and Martial Solal, as well as Brad Mehldau and Joshua Redman. "Crossing" takes us on a musical journey where interaction, listening, and creativity are at the heart of their performance. Their music invites you to delve into the creative intimacy of two like-minded musicians. "Crossing" can be interpreted as the intersection of two paths or two ideas. The result of such a crossing is always something new. "Crossing" embodies the syncopated, motivating, and steady playing of Xavier alongside the virtuosic, lyrical, and fluid style of Baptiste. It represents the blend of the warm timbre of the saxophone with the round and percussive sound of the piano. It reflects the fusion of the lush memories of the Burgundy countryside with the vibrant and sunny landscapes of Martinique. After releasing their debut album last January (CHOC Jazz Magazine, Grand Jury Prize at the Jazz à Oloron 2026 competition, Finalist Jazz Migration 2025), the duo will present their repertoire on October 18th.
