For his first carte blanche, Maxime Sanchez presents a unique trio based on the music of Georges Gershwin, the American composer and pianist famous for blending classical music and jazz.
Maxime Sanchez began playing the piano at the age of four in Seoul, South Korea. He discovered jazz in the Toulouse region and enrolled at the Collège de Marciac (with a flexible schedule). In 2006, he moved to Paris and two years later joined the jazz class at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (CNSMDP).
In Paris, he gained a wealth of musical experience.
Among the highlights of his career as a sideman are his work with François Jeanneau at Pandemonium, Magik Malik's group “Jazz Association,” Belgian saxophonist Toine Thys' group “Orlando,” and his work alongside David Enhco (Keyston Big Band, 4tet with Maitrises, etc.).
He also led or co-led several projects: FLASH PIG, KEPLER, and his new trio “Standards.”
In 2018, Maxime made a name for himself in the jazz world by becoming one of the very few European musicians to make the list of winners of the famous Thelonious Monk Competition, in which he finished third.
