| Jazz, new album
In this brand new transcontinental collaboration, Swiss drummer Florian Arbenz joins forces with the sensational Cuban brothers Vistel (saxophone and trumpet), pianist and brother Michael Arbenz, and Swiss-Australian double bassist Rafael Jerjen to launch ‘Convergence’.
Florian Arbenz first met the Vistel brothers while studying in Havana nearly 25 years ago. They were reunited by renowned saxophonist Greg Osby, who has performed with both of them.
The musicians of ‘Convergence’ manage to create a captivating ensemble sound, devoting themselves fully to the project's unique aesthetic without losing any of their spontaneity or the strength of their musical personalities.
Despite the demanding themes and complex forms that had to be mastered for the Convergence project, the music retains a very playful, almost festive character.
Such is the exciting spirit of ‘Convergence’, offering 21st-century music based on knowledge, virtuosity, groove and pleasure, while affirming a deep respect for its roots.
