| Modern jazz, new album “Invitations”

Led by saxophonist Florian Marques, the PEAKS quartet is releasing “Invitations” this year, their second album, which takes us on a journey from the hills of Twin Peaks to those of Belleville, via the Hautes Vallées Béarnaises in the Pyrenees and New York.
The result of artistic and human encounters, this new album, which gives pride of place to melody and improvisation, is conceived as a dialogue between PEAKS and guest musicians with unique artistic personalities: Bojan Z on piano, Roman Reidid and Olivier Laisney on trumpet, and Fidel Fourneyron on trombone.
To mark the occasion, PEAKS will be in residence at 38Riv in 2026 for four exceptional quintet concerts with each of their guests from the album. On Wednesday, March 11, they will kick off this carte blanche with trumpeter Olivier Laisney.
Olivier Laisney has established himself as one of the most subtle representatives of his instrument, articulating a jazz culture marked by the influence of Woody Shaw and the great hard bop trumpeters, as he demonstrated in the Gil Evans Paris Workshop directed by Laurent Cugny, with resolutely contemporary concepts that he explores at the head of his projects (Yantras, Slugged), as well as in various groups within the Onze Heures Onze collective, Stéphane Payen's Workshop, the Fanfare XP founded by Magic Malik, and Alban Darche's Orphicube, among others.
