LET’S SWING WITH THE JAZZDISCIPLES!
Mourad Benhammou is a self-taught Parisian jazz drummer born in 1969, recognized for his deep roots in the hard bop tradition. He developed his style by listening to great masters like Elvin Jones and Philly Joe Jones, honing his craft in Parisian clubs since the 1990s alongside numerous musicians from the jazz scene.
After notable collaborations with artists such as Sunny Murray, Xavier Richardeau, and Raphaël Imbert, he founded the Interplanetary Music Orchestra and later created the Jazzworkers, a quintet inspired by the Blue Note aesthetic.
A highly sought-after musician, he has played with many prominent figures in both American and French jazz, showcasing a powerful, precise, and deeply swinging style. In 2021, Jazz Magazine described him as “one of the best current drummers in the bop and hard bop scene.”
