| Album “ASILE”
Following his first album REFUGE, Max Atger imagines his new cocoon in his new repertoire ASIL.
Alongside Simon Adant, Paul Philibert on double bass, and Mathieu Bigot on drums, Max Atger continues to trace the lines of his intimate, poetic, and dreamy world. ASIL is rooted in the earth and the spiritual, with music that is more intense, in the tradition of artists such as Charles Mingus, Soweto Kinch, Sun Ra, Shabaka Hutchings, and others.
The ensemble, formed at the CMDL (Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood), was born above all out of the human complicity of the quartet's musicians. Simon Adant's contemplative and expressionist guitar playing fuels the poetry that Max Atger seeks to narrate. The flexibility and roundness of Paul Philibert's double bass sound anchor the compositions in their spiritual trance. The finesse and elegance of Mathieu Bigot's drumsticks reconnect Max Atger's music to its rhythmic and dreamy dimension.
Together, they form and shape ASIL, their cocoon of serenity.
