Matteo Bortone
An escape from the imagination of Italian double bassist Matteo Bortone (who grew musically at the CNSM in Paris), the music of ‘No Land’s’ explores the adventurous paths of creative improvised music and the captivating sounds of avant-garde rock, creating an open, free, and uncompromising guiding line.
Built around the leader's compositions, the group develops a musical universe rich in contrasts and dialogues: melodies that veer into the unknown, alternating acoustic moments and electric tornadoes, creating a relaxed and ever-evolving journey.
Active for 10 years, this Franco-Italian ensemble has performed in Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, China, and Taiwan.
“The ensemble led by Bortone has a unique voice. A great discovery” - Thomas Conrad, The New York City Jazz Record
“One of the boldest formations on the new jazz scene” - Theodore Van Claer, Djam
“A group of young prodigies who work wonderfully together in service of a true collective project” - Lionel Eskenazi, Jazz Magazine
