Following the adventure of Eric Séva’s quartet Nomades sonores in the 2010s, the two soloists chose to extend their shared journey by exploring an intimate and entirely original format: a trombone / baritone saxophone duo—a blend of sounds with a woody, deep, and powerful resonance.
Their repertoire draws from a shared imaginary folklore, where multiple popular musical traditions of the 20th century—and from around the world—intertwine. Somewhere between Astor Piazzolla and Stéphane Grappelli, from Brazil to musette waltz, the two musical acrobats achieve a true feat: always staying upright, without a safety net or support, like tightrope walkers.
A constant risk-taking that never prevents them from expressing their sensitivity and a deeply lyrical, melodic voice—raw and immediate.
A leading figure of the French jazz scene since the 1990s, Eric Séva was long a member of Didier Lockwood’s group, and has also worked with Chris Rea and the Orchestre National de Jazz. Since 2005, he has developed a career as a bandleader, recording seven albums widely acclaimed by critics.
A trombonist who has performed with Claude Nougaro, Manu Dibango, and Tony Allen, and co-led a quintet with Thomas de Pourquery for 17 years, Daniel Zimmermann also founded a trio with Vincent Peirani. He has been nominated several times at the Victoires du Jazz for his albums as a leader.
