Led by saxophonist Florian Marques, the PEAKS quartet is releasing “Invitations” this year, their second album, which takes us on a journey from the hills of Twin Peaks to those of Belleville, passing through the Hautes Vallées of the Béarn region in the Pyrenees and New York.
The result of artistic and personal encounters, this new album—which gives pride of place to melody and improvisation—is conceived as a dialogue between PEAKS and guest musicians with unique artistic personalities: Bojan Z on piano, Roman Reidid and Olivier Laisney on trumpet, and Fidel Fourneyron on trombone.
For this occasion, PEAKS is in residence at 38Riv in 2026 for four exceptional quintet concerts with each of their guests from the album. This Wednesday, June 3, it’s trombonist Fidel Fourneyron’s turn to join them!
Originally from Aquitaine, Fidel Fourneyron moved to Paris to complete his training in the jazz and improvised music class at the Conservatoire.
Spotted by the biggest names in contemporary jazz (notably Marc Ducret), he joined Olivier Benoit’s National Jazz Orchestra in 2014.
His new trio, Animal—featuring Joachim Florent on double bass and Sylvain Darrifourcq on drums—released a highly acclaimed debut album on ONJazz Records in May 2018 (FFF Télérama, CHOC Jazz Magazine, Indispensable Jazz News, Citizen Jazz’s Pick…).
Finally, he is the driving force behind “¿Que Vola?”, a major project bringing together three rising stars of Havana rumba with his generation of French jazz musicians and improvisers in a large orchestra.
