| Compositions, chamber jazz

A new musical horizon opens up with Mejiro, which marks an essential step in the constantly evolving universe of singer and composer Ellinoa.
Mejiro, named after a district in Tokyo and a small bird endemic to Japan, is a declaration of love for this country whose culture and imagination have nurtured Ellinoa since childhood. Thanks to surprising instrumentation that navigates somewhere between chamber music, jazz and chanson, the singer-songwriter offers a unique, unprecedented sound marked by contrasts and an ambivalence between light and shadow. Diverting the languages of classical music and improvisation to forge her own path outside stylistic categories, Ellinoa's music, accessible to all ears, unfolds with lyricism, grace and lightness, like the real or mythical birds that populate the Japanese landscape.
