Carte blanche à Camille Heim
| Jazz, compositions
Chocho Cannelle is a resolutely modern jazz quartet, at the crossroads of electric and acoustic worlds, between composition and improvisation, contemporary jazz and Latin sounds.
The group stands out for its unique sound palette, combining electric llanera harp, clarinet, Fender Rhodes, and drums. Without a bassist, the harp and Moog share the bass lines, weaving a rhythmic texture that is both fluid and inventive.
Driven by the compositions of drummer Léo Danais, the repertoire reflects his multiple inspirations—from jazz to world music—in a universe where groove, lyricism, and freedom meet. The quartet's influences range from drummers Makaya McCraven and Stéphane Galland to producer Bonobo and harpist Edmar Castañeda.
Winner of the 2022 Concours National de Jazz à La Défense, finalist in the 2023 Tremplin RéZZo Jazz à Vienne, and winner of the 2023 Occijazz program, Chocho Cannelle is establishing itself as one of the most unique emerging projects on the current jazz scene.
